School Board hears update on Summer School program, Food Services

The Stanwood-Camano School Board heard reports on Food Services and Summer School during the regular board meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023.

The full-day Summer School program offered a mix of a traditional classroom environment and engaging in enrichment activities through community partners such as the Stanwood-Camano YMCA and Stanwood-Camano Arts Advocacy Commission (SCAAC).

The program’s participation and attendance rate was up year-over-year. See the presentation HERE.

The board also heard an update from the Food Services department, which reported that more meals are being served in our schools. See that presentation HERE.

The school board accepted a $2,000 donation of cedar wood chips from Lenz Enterprises Inc. for the Stanwood High School cross country trail, $5,000 from the Livestock Master Foundation in support of the Stanwood  High School FFA program to cover contest and national competition expenses, meals, and various other expenses; and $650 in proceeds from the Kids Heart Challenge received from the American Heart Association in support of Utsalady Elementary School.
