Our school district has 31 pieces of artwork in eight our our buildings that are managed by the state's Art Commission. And you can search and view public art pieces all over the state on its website.

Elementary school boundaries changed, starting in the 2023-24 school year. The new boundaries come after months of work analyzing enrollment data, transportation information, and community feedback by the Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC). The Stanwood-Camano School Board formally adopted the revised elementary school boundaries on March 21, 2023. Middle school boundaries are not changing.

A student attends a school based on their address. Use the following tools to find your school or to locate school boundaries:

Student transfer request information

Families requesting to transfer their student or students to a different school for the 2023-24 school year can complete and submit the forms beginning April 1, 2023. Families will typically receive a response accepting or denying the request within 10 school days until June 30. Families submitting requests after June 30 will be notified by August 10. 

For transferring within the Stanwood-Camano School District boundaries, use 3131 F1 Application form outlined in our student transfer policy and procedures:

What is meant by the term equity?

Equity is about treating all children as the individuals that they are, not treating all children the same.

In order to thrive, students need to be treated with kindness and respect by adults and other students. We are deeply committed to ensuring that all students receive what they personally need to develop to their full potential and succeed.

To that end, we commit to examining the disparities in our system and to implementing equitable practices to eliminate those disparities. Equity ensures all students have what they need to learn and thrive.

Why do we need an equity policy?

An equity policy helps guide our work to eliminate the predictability of success that is currently correlated with race, gender-identity, sexual orientation, wealth, ZIP code, immigration status, etc. We seek to create a school system that gives all our students the opportunity to develop their academic skills, social-emotional wellness and intelligence, and a sense of agency and civic responsibility. 

We have a moral imperative to not look away from the impacts of harmful structures, policies and practices that limit opportunity for our school community. Every child and family in our district is deserving of learning conditions that foster intellectual curiosity and social and emotional wellbeing.  When we focus on equity, we expand our community’s notions of who belongs, and who schooling is intended to work for, to include and care for everyone.

The Stanwood-Camano School District serves the Camano Island portion of Island County and the northwest portion of Snohomish County, bordering on the Skagit County line to the north and sharing boundaries with Arlington, Lakewood, and Marysville School Districts to the southeast.

We value our parents, community members, and volunteers. They understand the importance of their schools and support schools through levies and bonds so that students receive comprehensive programs and a safe learning environment at all levels.
