Debbie Bayes has been appointed as the newest member of the Stanwood-Camano School Board.
After interviewing five candidates during a special meeting Monday, Jan. 9, the Board voted 4-0 to appoint Bayes as the new District 4 representative.
The seat was vacant after Ken Christoferson resigned in November. District 4 encompasses the north and east areas of Stanwood, including Cedarhome, Lake Ketchum and Sunday Lake.
Bayes will serve until the next regular election in November 2023.
Bayes — a Stanwood High graduate — is a teacher and trainer in cultural and academic settings. She has worked and lectured at schools, universities and group settings locally, nationally and internationally.
