The Stanwood-Camano School Board welcomed two new student advisors to the board for the school year and heard several reports about district initiatives during the regular board meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023.

Superintendent Deborah Rumbaugh swore in Lincoln Hill High School senior Bee Hartell and Stanwood High School junior Grace Pacheco.

The student advisors serve alongside the board to give reports from a student perspective.

The board heard a School Improvement Plan and Action Plan Update from Stanwood Middle School principal Tod Klundt and assistant principal Holly Christmas.

The board also heard reports about the district maintenance efforts and the student and district safety updates.

The school board also accepted a $2,600 donation from Andy Yamamoto on behalf of Pub 282 in support of the district’s Food Services program.

After the regular meeting, the board held a study session to discuss the board’s short- and long-term goals, and recommendations about a levy.
