BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 4, 2008, REGULAR BOARD MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
Roger Myers called the meeting to order at 12:01 PM. Board members in attendance were: Roger Myers, Ken Christoferson, Darlene Hartley, and Julie Dean; Pat Patterson was absent. Dr. Lloy Schaaf, Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education, led the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Darlene Hartley made a motion to approve the agenda. Julie Dean seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Julie Dean made a motion to approve the minutes of the October 21, 2008, Regular Board Meeting. Ken Christoferson seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

Ken Christoferson made a motion to approve the minutes of the October 21, 2008, Board Retreat. Julie Dean seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

COMMENTS BY CITIZENS
There was no audience participation.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
Dr. Jean Shumate announced the following reports:

DONATIONS
Roger Myers presented the donations from Totem Publications LLC and AMF Farms, Inc./Bay Baby Produce, Inc., and recognized the district's transportation department for receiving a perfect score in the annual vehicle safety inspection from the Washington State Patrol.

NOVEMBER ENROLLMENT
Gary Platt, Executive Director of Business and Operations, said that the enrollment for November was 5,006 full time equivalent (FTE) students, which was a decline of 25 students overall since October. Withdrawal information indicated that the majority of students transfered to other districts at the high school level. Mr. Platt explained the enrollment history chart and discussed the impact of declining enrollment.

CONSENT AGENDA
Ken Christoferson made a motion to approve the consent agenda, listed below. Julie Dean seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.
1. Donations
2. Redistricting Plan for the Board of Directors: converting from five director districts to four director districts with one at-large director position and to approve the new boundaries for the four new director districts.
3. Personnel Consent Agenda

ITEMS BROUGHT UP BY BOARD MEMBERS
All board members visited various schools and expressed their appreciation of staff and students.

Roger Myers reminded voters that it was election day (November 4, 2008); the Washington State School Directors Association (WSSDA) conference would be held November 19-22; and Verterans Day school assemblies would be held on November 10.

Dr. Shumate said that the director area redistricting legal descriptions and maps was available for the Board's review.

ADJOURNMENT
Roger Myers adjourned the regular meeting at 12:17 PM.
