CALL TO ORDER
Board President Miranda Evans called the study session to order at 7:09 p.m.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Director Natalie Hagglund moved to approve the Agenda for the December 6, 2022 Study Session; seconded by Director Al Schreiber.

TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION
1. District Strategic Plan Update – Deborah Rumbaugh
Dr. Rumbaugh and staff walked the board through a strategic plan update. Cabinet members representing Teaching and Learning, Assessment and Technology, Special Education, Human Resources, Finance and Budget, and Transportation/Maintenance/Security/Food Services shared in detail how processes within their departments are aligning with the Strategic Plan and in support of goals.
2. Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) Teaching and Learning Department Review Update – Deborah Rumbaugh and Ben Gauyan
Dr Rumbaugh reminded the board of the methodology WASA used to conduct a review of the district's Teaching and Learning department in September 2021 and their subsequent recommendations. Dr. Ben Gauyan, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, presented detailed information on the work that has taken place or is currently taking place in response to WASA's recommendations.
3. Equity Policy Discussion – Deborah Rumbaugh
Dr. Rumbaugh reaffirmed the district’s commitment to return frequently to the district’s equity policy and shared about activities with district leadership to revisit policy, viewing it through a different lens each time. Dr. Rumbaugh announced today’s discussion will be for the board to review the equity policy and share areas they see as a priority for the board and the district Review and discussion followed with the board sharing out what they see as priorities for this year.
