MINUTES
The statutory waivers/suspensions of the Open Public Meeting Act (OPMA) cited in the Governor's Proclamation 20-28.15 have been extended, "...until the termination of the state of emergency pursuant to RCW 43.06.210, or until rescinded, whichever occurs first." Meetings subject to the Open Public Meeting Act must offer a way for the public to participate virtually and offering an in-person component remains optional.
The July 27, 2021 Special Board Meeting was held virtually using the Zoom platform.

SCHOOL BOARD DISCUSSION

Policy 1430 Audience Participation - Superintendent Deborah Rumbaugh and Board President Natalie Hagglund walked the Board through proposed updates to policy 1430 Audience Participation. Discussion followed, to include incorporating additional edits and placing 1430 on the August 3, 2021 regular board meeting agenda for a first reading.

Policy 2195 Academic Acceleration - Deborah Rumbaugh
Superintendent Rumbaugh walked the board through proposed new policy 2195 Academic Acceleration. Discussion followed, to include incorporating edits and placing 2195 on the August 3, 2021 Regular Board Meeting agenda for a first reading. -
Strategic Plan Development - Deborah Rumbaugh
Superintendent Rumbaugh presented a recommendation to explore the use of a consultant to assist with developing a multi-year comprehensive district strategic plan. Discussion followed. A recommendation to authorize a Request for Proposal (RFP) for consultant services will be on the August 3, 2021 Consent Agenda for Board consideration. -
Affirmative Consent Update - Dan Johnston
Dan Johnston, Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, shared information with the Board on a health education supplemental materials video, piloted at Stanwood High School in the spring of 2021, Yes Means Yes, Understanding Affirmative Consent. Discussion followed. There was consensus the video will continue as a high school pilot.
