Meet the Board

District 1
John Russell (Term Expires 2029)
John Russell was elected to the Board in November 2025. He has been involved in the Stanwood-Camano School District for more than 20 years, serving on several advisory groups, including bond, levy, and facilities committees. His children graduated from Stanwood High School, and he has been an active community member while supporting district projects and planning efforts. Russell lives in the Warm Beach area.

District 2
Charlotte Murry (Term Expires 2029)

Charlotte Murry was re-elected to the Board in 2021 and 2025. She has lived on Camano Island for more than 20 years and is a lifelong Washington resident. Charlotte works as an Executive Administrator for the Snohomish & Island County Labor Council. She has been a very active volunteer in the community while raising her three children in the school district.

District 3
Miranda Evans (Term Expires 2027)

Miranda Evans was re-elected to the Board in November 2023. A graduate of Stanwood High School, Miranda received her Bachelor of Business Administration from Gonzaga University. She works for a large auto insurer as a Property Damage Specialist, while also helping her husband with their local real estate company. She lives on Camano Island with her husband, Jerry, and their two girls, who attend school in the district.

District 4
Michael Olson (Term Expires 2027)
Michael Olson was appointed to fill a vacancy in September 2025. Olson brings nearly four decades of public education leadership to the role, including more than 25 years of service in the Stanwood-Camano School District. He served locally as a principal at Church Creek and Utsalady Elementary Schools, Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, and Principal of Port Susan Middle School. From 2012 until his retirement in 2022, Olson was Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning in the Sedro-Woolley School District, where he advanced instructional programs, led districtwide curriculum and assessment systems, and collaborated with the Skagit STEM Network and state-level advisory committees. Following retirement, he consulted for the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI), coaching schools on inclusionary practices and continuous improvement.

District 5 (At-Large)
Steve King (Term Expires 2027)
Vice President
Steve King was sworn in on December 5, 2023, to serve as District 5 Director At Large. Steve was an instructor, professor, and program/department head (pilot training) at Long Beach City College for 37 years. Steve also served as LBCC Academic Standards, Curriculum, and AS Degree Committee Member; board member and president of the California Aerospace Education Association; board member of the University Aviation Association (the national professional organization for non-engineering college and university aviation programs), an aviation maintenance technician; and a railroad brakeman. Steve holds a degree in Social Sciences (Anthropology emphasis), and he has had eight years of vocational training and college including Aviation (AMT), Electronic, and Automotive technologies.
