2412 Diplomas for Veterans
DIPLOMAS FOR VETERANSThe district will issue high school diplomas to World War II, Korean Conflict and VietnamVeterans with substantial ties to the district who did not finish high school due to their military service.
To be eligible for a diploma the veteran or his or her representative must fill out the application provided by the Washington Department of Veteran Affairs and provide evidence of eligibility.
A. The veteran must have been honorably discharged from the armed forces of the United States, scheduled to graduate from high school after 1940 and before 1951, and left high school before graduation in order to serve in World War II; or
B. The veteran must have been honorably discharged from the armed forces of the United States, scheduled to graduate from high school in the years 1940 through 1955 and left high school before graduation in order to serve in the Korean Conflict.
Veterans are eligible for the diploma even if they subsequently earned a high school equivalency certificate or are deceased.
The superintendent will determine those veterans who have substantial ties to the district. Examples include, but are not limited to: living or having lived in the district, having attended school in the district, having children or other descendants who have attended school in the district, having been employed by the district or volunteering in the district.
