McKinney-Vento Referral Form

Required

Students and families experiencing housing instability can face added challenges in accessing and succeeding in school. The Stanwood-Camano School District provides support through the McKinney-Vento (MV) Act, which is designed to reduce barriers and help students stay connected to their education.

Please use this form to refer a student to the district’s McKinney-Vento program. Our district McKinney-Vento liaison will connect with the student or family to determine eligibility. If eligible, the liaison will help ensure the student can fully access school and will provide support in navigating services and connecting to helpful community resources.

Who is eligible for McKinney-Vento support?

If you believe a student may not have a stable, permanent place to live, please complete this referral form. It is always appropriate to err on the side of referring so students can be considered for support.

Students may qualify if their living situation is not fixed, regular, and adequate. Examples include:

  • Living in a trailer or RV
  • Staying with others (family or friends) due to financial hardship or other circumstances
  • Living in a motel or hotel
  • Living in substandard housing (such as overcrowded conditions or lack of utilities)
  • Sleeping in a vehicle, tent, RV, public space, or another place not meant for regular housing

Students who are not living with a parent or legal guardian, including those on their own, may also qualify.
