BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 1, 2015, REGULAR BOARD MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
Ken Christoferson called the meeting to order at 5:01 PM in the Administration & Resource Center Boardroom.

ROLL CALL
Board members in attendance were: Julie Dean, Darlene Hartley, Al Schreiber, Roger Myers, and Ken Christoferson.

FLAG SALUTE
Director Al Schreiber led the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Julie Dean made a motion to approve the Agenda for the September 1, 2015, Regular Board Meeting. Al Schreiber seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Roger Myers made a motion to approve the Minutes of the August 18, 2015, Special Board Retreat. Julie Dean seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

Darlene Hartley made a motion to approve the Minutes of the August 18, 2015, Regular Board Meeting. Al Schreiber seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

There were no comments.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
Dr. Jean Shumate introduced the following reports:

DONATIONS
Julie Dean presented the donations, as follows: 1) The Stanwood Eagles Auxiliary donated $100 to the kindergarten program at Cedarhome Elementary; 2) Target's Thanks a Billion for Education Program donated $100 to Cedarhome Elementary; 3) Stanwood Band Boosters provided transportation costs, $1,036.49 for the Stanwood High School's Band Group field trip to Seattle and the Drum Line to attend the Drum Line Camp in Ellensburg, Washington.

PRELIMINARY ENROLLMENT
Gary Platt, Executive Director of Business Services, said that the preliminary enrollment report was an early account of students that were at school or were rolled-up from the previous year. The budgeted enrollment is 4,090 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) and there were 4,197 FTE reported on the day before the start of school. He said that the count would probably change after school was in session. The actual enrollment count date is September 8. He noted that, at this time, the kindergarten enrollment was 29 students above budget projections and enrollment was stable at the elementary level.

CONSENT AGENDA
Darlene Hartley made a motion to approve Consent Agenda items 1-8, listed below. Al Schreiber seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

1. Donations
2. Interlocal Agreement with Camano Island Fire and Rescue for the 2015-16 School Year.
3. First Reading of Revised Student Policy 3418, Response to Student Injury or Illness.
4. 2015-16 Special Services Contract with Children's Institute for Learning Differences (CHILD).
5. Memorandum of Understanding with Stanwood-Camano Education Association for Tuition Reimbursement for 2015-16.
6. Memorandum of Understanding with Stanwood-Camano Education Association for Full Day Kindergarten Implementation for 2015-16.
7. Memorandum of Understanding with Stanwood-Camano Education Association for Workload Assistance for 2015-16.
8. Personnel Consent Agenda

ITEMS BROUGHT UP BY BOARD MEMBERS
Al Schreiber said he was looking forward to the new school year.

Ken Christoferson appreciated the administration for monitoring class sizes in all the schools.

Dr. Shumate said she was waiting for the first day of school and said that some buses may be late due to the weather damage of trees and power lines. September 8th is the official enrollment count date and the Board would receive updates.

ADJOURNMENT
Director Christoferson adjourned the regular meeting at 5:12 PM.
