BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 15, 2016, REGULAR BOARD MEETING

CALL TO ORDER
Ken Christoferson called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM in the Administration & Resource Center Boardroom.

ROLL CALL
Board members in attendance were: Julie Dean, Natalie Hagglund, Al Schreiber, and Ken Christoferson. Roger Myers was absent and excused.

FLAG SALUTE
Natalie Hagglund led the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Julie Dean made a motion to approve the Agenda for the November 15, 2016, Regular Board Meeting. Natalie Hagglund seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

Ken Christoferson announced that it was Natalie Hagglund's birthday. The audience wished her a happy birthday in song.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Julie Dean made a motion to approve the Minutes of the November 1, 2016, Regular Board Meeting. Natalie Hagglund seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT
Dr. Jean Shumate introduced the following reports:

RECOGNITION
1. Talon Pomerinke presented the recognition: Stanwood High School hosted a successful blood drive on November 4, 2016. Gayle Richards, Bloodworks Northwest Representative, recognized Christine Del Pozo, Principal, George Colby, Leadership Advisor, and the Leadership Class, for their support. Stanwood High School registered 87 donors, collected 72 pints of blood and had 58 first time donors.

All of the recipients received certificates of achievement, recognition from school principals/staff, and the Board of Directors. Sponsor, Kati Collins, Umpqua Bank Store Manager, in partnership with Twin City Lanes, Klesick Farms, Stanwood Cinemas, and Dos Reales, awarded gift certificates to the recipients.

RECESS
Mr. Christoferson recessed the meeting at 7:46 PM for approximately five minutes to allow guests to leave. He resumed the regular meeting at 7:52 PM.

NOVEMBER ENROLLMENT
Gary Platt, Executive Director of Business Services, reported on the enrollment for the month of November. There were 4,389.23 FTE (Full Time Equivalent) students enrolled, which averaged 128.24 FTE over budget.

SEPTEMBER FINANCIAL REPORT
Gary Platt reported on the financial reports for the month of September 2016.

CONSENT AGENDA
Al Schreiber made a motion to approve Consent Agenda items 1-6, listed below. Natalie Hagglund seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

STUDENT ADVISORS REPORT
Talon Pomerinke said that the chess club at Lincoln Hill High School was going well and Talon reported that over 40 different families were scheduled to attend fall conferences on November 17 and 18.

Marlin Jones reported that Stanwood High School students participated in a pumpkin carving contest and used social media to decide the winners, the Veterans Day assemblies were led by students, and the 2nd period classes were making Thanksgiving Baskets for needy veterans and homeless families.

ITEMS BROUGHT UP BY BOARD MEMBERS
Al Schreiber, Julie Dean, and Ken Christoferson stated they were looking forward to attending the school directors' annual conference.

Julie Dean wished everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and said that she was attending the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

Jean Shumate wished Natalie Hagglund a happy birthday.
