On behalf of the Board of Directors, Joy Rusko, Secretary to the Superintendent, introduced the student and staff awards.

Sponsor of the awards’ program, Mike Gibson, Sterling Savings Bank manager, in partnership with Lenz Enterprises, presented gift certificates to each recipient from Dos Reales and Stanwood Cinemas. FINANCIAL REPORT
Gary Platt, Executive Director of Business Services, reviewed the Financial Report for the month of October 2010. The plan submitted to the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) regarding the one-time only, $1.019 million in federal EduJobs funding would be fully expended before January 1, 2011. All funds would be budgeted and claimed in payroll categories represented by the Stanwood-Camano Education Association certificated non-supervisory staff and the building administrators staff. District level staff would not receive any funding. Temporary classified positions needed for the current school year would be filled and eliminated at the end of the current fiscal year. Any remaining funds would be used to offset future state budget reductions and would directly retain educational jobs by reducing the number of staff positions that would be eliminated.

Mr. Platt said that the district was not awarded the energy grant for replacing the high school heating system repairs. A General Fund transfer of $120,000 would be needed to help fund the necessary capital project for the high school.
