Gary Platt, Executive Director of Business Services, presented factual information on the best estimate of tax rates per $1,000 of assessed valuation (the state would determine the final tax rate by the end of November). He said the Educational Maintenance and Operation Levy is approximately 23% of the district’s total budget and helps support essential educational programs, textbooks, materials for student learning, including transportation, special services, advanced placement classes, utilities, facility maintenance and energy improvements.

Superintendent Shumate said there were 37 scheduled levy presentations to inform staff, community and service groups, on factual information and election guidelines from the Public Disclosure Commission. She noted that volunteers from the Citizen’s for Stanwood-Camano Schools are busy connecting with community members, as well.
