STUDENT ADVISORS REPORT
Hana Hushagen and Josh Schuh reported on the following: Lincoln Hill High School and Stanwood High School received the Washington Achievement Award for Improvement; the High School Proficiency Exams (HSPE) were in progress; student conferences would take place March 21-23; and many students completed scholarship forms. Josh also noted that the production of the play, “GREASE” was sold-out every night and he and Hana were part of the ensemble. They both agreed that the experience was fun.
ITEMS BROUGHT UP BY BOARD MEMBERS
Darlene Hartley said she was proud of staff and students for their many accomplishments. She also commended the Utsalady Elementary staff and community for caring about each other in times of tragedy.
Pat Patterson commented on the high school’s sold-out performances of “GREASE” and read an excerpt of a letter written to the Board from Barb Bennett, community member. Mrs. Bennett congratulated the “incredible high school Performing Arts Program” and the talented Director Ken Sims and Music Director Erik Ronning.
Ken Christoferson said the performance of GREASE was incredible and uplifting and also a good cause of celebration for those students behind the scenes.
Julie Dean said she enjoyed the student and staff awards and enjoyed seeing the community come together with the performances at the high school.
Roger Myers asked Hana and Josh to communicate with the cast members and directors how the much the Board enjoyed the performance of GREASE.
Dr. Shumate was disappointed to be turned away from the sold-out performance, although felt positive that so many people attended and was proud of another part of our school program.
ADJOURNMENT
Roger Myers adjourned the Regular Meeting at 8:10 PM.
