MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 6, 2015, REGULAR BOARD MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
President Ken Christoferson called the meeting to order at 12:00 PM in the Administration & Resource Center boardroom.
ROLL CALL
Board members in attendance were: Julie Dean, Roger Myers, Darlene Hartley, and Ken Christoferson.
Al Schreiber was absent and excused.
FLAG SALUTE
Director Julie Dean led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Julie Dean made a motion to approve the Agenda for the January 6, 2015, Regular Board Meeting. Roger Myers seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Darlene Hartley made a motion to approve the Minutes of the December 16, 2014, Regular Board Meeting. Julie Dean seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved.
COMMENTS BY CITIZENS
There were no comments.
SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT
Dr. Jean Shumate introduced the following reports:
DONATIONS
Julie Dean presented the donations, as follows: (1) Stanwood Elementary PTO donated $336.19 to Stanwood Elementary to purchase a paper trimmer and transportation costs, $684.58, for class field trips, (2) McClain Insurance Services donated $500.00 to the Stanwood Elementary to purchase art supplies, (3) Cedarhome Elementary PTO donated transportation costs, $668.72, for class field trips, and (4) Stanwood Middle School PTO donated $837.22 toward the purchase of musical instruments (saxophone and tuba) at Stanwood Middle School.
JANUARY ENROLLMENT
Gary Platt, Executive Director of Business Services, gave the enrollment report for the month of January 2015. There were 4,152.51 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) students enrolled, which was above the budget projection by 109 FTE. He said that January’s enrollment decreased by about 11 FTE.
CONSENT AGENDA
Roger Myers made a motion to approve Consent Agenda items 1-3, listed below. Darlene Hartley seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.
1. Donations
2. Stanwood High School Field Trips: (a) Boys Varsity Basketball Tournament December 28-30, 2014, Vancouver, Washington, and (b) Technology Student Association (TSA) State Conference March 26-28, 2015, Bellevue, Washington.
3. Personnel Consent Agenda.
ITEMS BROUGHT UP BY BOARD MEMBERS
Roger Myers and Julie Dean wished everyone a Happy New Year.
Darlene Hartley reflected, after she had listened to news broadcasts of situations that impact schools, how grateful she was for our district employees who deal so professionally with emergency situations.
ADJOURNMENT
Director Christoferson adjourned the regular meeting at 12:06 PM.
