September 1, 2009, Regular Board Meeting Minutes

STANWOOD-CAMANO SCHOOL DISTRICT
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MINUTES OF THE SEPTEMBER 1, 2009, REGULAR BOARD MEETING
 
CALL TO ORDER
Roger Myers called the meeting to order at 12:00 PM.  Board members in attendance were Ken Christoferson, Julie Dean, and Roger Myers.  Darlene Hartley and Pat Patterson were absent.  Dr. Linda Littlfield, Executive Director of Human Services, led the Pledge of Allegiance.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Julie Dean made a motion to approve the agenda.  Ken Christoferson seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ken Christoferson made a motion to approve the Minutes of the August 18, 2009, Special Board Meeting.  Julie Dean seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

Julie Dean made a motion to approve the Minutes of the August 18, 2009, Regular Board Meeting.  Ken Christoferson seconded the motion; it was voted on and approved unanimously.

COMMENTS BY CITIZENS
There were no comments by audience members.

CONSENT AGENDA
Ken Christoferson made a motion to approve the Consent Agenda, listed below.   Julie Dean seconded the motion; it was voted on and passed unanimously.
1.    Agreement with Pitney Bowes for the Lease of a New Postage Machine to the State of Washington Master Price Agreement OFF22.
2.    Resolution 2009/10-001 Authorize Representative to Obtain Federal and/or State Emergency or Disaster Assistance Funds.
3.    Second Reading and Adoption of Policy 4230 Distribution of Youth-Related Materials.
4.    Personnel Consent Agenda.
5.    Stanwood Camano Education Association (SCEA) Collective Bargaining Agreement for 2009-2012 and Memorandum of Agreements for: (1.) Reduction in Force (RIF) employees to apply for leave replacement positions; (2) Reduction In Force (RIF) employees substituting; (3.) Committee to review requirements for classroom based assessments (CBA).

ITEMS BROUGHT UP BY BOARD MEMBERS
Julie Dean said she was looking forward to the first day of school.

Ken Christoferson said he was thrilled that the administration worked in collaboration with the education association bargaining team to agree on a three-year contract.  

Roger Myers said that the Washington State School Directors Association (WSSDA) regional meeting would be held in Bellingham on October 1st.

ADJOURNMENT
Roger Myers adjourned the Regular Meeting at 12:04 PM.
