Strategic Plan Refresh
Refining our roadmap for student success
During the 2026-27 school year, the Stanwood-Camano School District will refresh its Strategic Plan through a structured, school-centered process led by the district’s Academic Advisory Team.
This work is a refinement, not a reinvention, of the district’s existing Strategic Plan. The current plan was developed with extensive input from students, families, staff and community members and is grounded in our shared promise:
Every student in the Stanwood-Camano School District is empowered to learn in an inclusive setting and is prepared for the future of their choice.
The refresh process will help us determine what should be preserved, strengthened, adjusted or simplified as we establish priorities for the next four years.
At the end of the process, the Academic Advisory Team will present a recommended updated Strategic Plan to the superintendent and School Board.
Where we are in the process
Current phase: Gathering and reviewing feedback
From April through September 2026, the district is collecting and reviewing information from students, families, staff and community members. This includes survey feedback, student achievement information and other district data.
The Academic Advisory Team will use those findings throughout the school year as it reviews the district’s existing goals and considers potential adjustments. This community group is open to all and will also help share information, gather perspectives and keep the broader community connected to the process.

Recommendation to the School Board

The Academic Advisory Team will present its recommendation during a public School Board meeting.

How you can participate
Community participation will be an important part of the Strategic Plan refresh. Students, families, staff and community members will have several ways to follow the work and share their perspectives.
Complete a survey
District surveys will help identify what is working, what needs attention and what priorities should guide the district during the next four years.
Attend a School Board meeting
Updates and the final recommendation will be presented during public School Board meetings. Meeting dates, agendas and viewing information will be posted on the district website.

Frequently asked questions
Why is the district refreshing its Strategic Plan?
Strategic plans should be revisited periodically to ensure their goals and priorities continue to reflect student needs, district data and community expectations. The refresh will build on the foundation of the current plan while identifying adjustments for the next four years.
Is the district creating an entirely new plan?
No. This is a refinement, not a reinvention. The Academic Advisory Team will examine what should be preserved, improved, changed or removed from the existing plan.
Who is leading the process?
The process is being led by the Academic Advisory Team, which includes parents, educators and community stakeholders who help shape the district’s academic direction and ensure community perspectives are included in decision-making.
What information will the team consider?
The team will consider student achievement, growth, attendance, graduation and course-completion data, along with feedback from students, families, staff and community members.
How will the community be involved?
The community will be able to participate through surveys, feedback opportunities, School Board meetings and other engagement activities. Meeting materials, findings and draft recommendations will be posted on this page.
When will the updated plan be completed?
The Academic Advisory Team is scheduled to present its recommended four-year plan to the superintendent and School Board in June 2027.
How will progress be measured after the plan is adopted?
The refreshed plan will include defined success measures and a focused implementation roadmap. These measures will help the district and community monitor progress toward each goal.
