ffa_picture.pngStanwood FFA was well represented by two teams this last week at the FFA State Environmental and Natural Resource CDE competition in Eatonville. Team members must compete in a variety of skills for a combined team score. Skills include a knowledge test, animal identification and practicums centered around GPS, waste management, environmental analysis and soil nutrients.  After the skills, team members must work together to solve and present solutions to an environmental problem.

Team members consisted of Jack Medlicott (1st individual), Andrew Salmon (2nd individual), Thor Pearson (6th individual), Alyssa Thompson (8th individual), and Alexa Flem (11th individual).

The teams that placed first and fourth overall in the state and the top placing team will be representing Washington State at the FFA national convention in October in Indianapolis, Indiana. Team members of the fourth place finishing team consisted of Jacob Flake (3rd individual), Sammie Keller, Gavin Voelckers, and Cassie Gunerius. Both teams were coached by Mr. Ryan Ovenell.

“We can’t wait for nationals and we will be working hard and practicing until then” said second year state competitor Andrew Salmon.
