The Board of Directors recognized the District’s Bus Drivers as the Classified Employees of the Month for December and Craig Kelley (pictured on right) December’s Teacher of the Month at the January 15th board meeting.
Jeff Epright, pictured with Roger Myers, was selected by the bus drivers to represent them and to receive
the award. He has driven bus since
2007 and this year, he was hired as a para-educator at Port Susan Middle School
for 2 hours per day. Of the 44
drivers, 15 substitutes, and 5 other transportation department employees who
are eligible to drive buses, four of the bus drivers have driven for over 25
years; Ed Bentley (29), Debbie Rice (28), Sharon Goulet (27), and Wanda Carver
Roger Myers, Director, nominated the bus drivers for the terrific job they do in providing safe transportation for over 3,900 students. He said, “It takes special people to be bus drivers.” “I appreciate our driver’s dedication, their hard work and their cheerful attitudes, ” he wrote. Craig Kelley has been a fifth grade teacher at Twin City Elementary for 17 years. Lauren Niegemann, a student in his class, nominated Mr. Kelley for the Teacher of the Month Award. In her nomination, she wrote about several reasons he should get the award, “He always makes learning so fun, it’s a stress free classroom, he makes students think hard, and the day always goes by really fast.” She thanked Mr. Kelley for “making this year one to remember.” To read the complete nomination, click here .
