The Board of Directors recognized employees Sharon Hanson, Twin City Elementary Title I paraeducator (left), as the Classified Employee of the Month and Joan Campbell, Port Susan Middle School mathematics teacher (right), as the Teacher of the Month at the regular Board meeting October 16, 2012.

Sharon Hanson
has been employed as a paraeducator for 21 years.  She began her career as a reading assistant and currently serves as the Title I paraeducator at Twin City Elementary. 


In Sharon’s nomination, written by Katie Pickrell, Title I teacher, she is described as organized, conscientious, calm, focused and talented.  Katie said, “She knows how to encourage her students to be successful in their most challenging areas.”  To read the complete nomination, click here .


Joan Campbell was hired as a special education teacher in 2001 and since 2010 has taught mathematics and leadership at Port Susan Middle School.


Joan was nominated by Chris Jadwin, Sydney Sherrid, Monica McDaniel and Staci Lauinger.   In each of the nominations they described Joan as a teacher who gives of herself, to her students and colleagues.  She shows unending patience, has a classroom environment of mutual respect and collaboration, and takes an active interest in each child as a person, as well as their learning.  Monica and Staci wrote, “Joan has the unique ability to make all students feel that their input and ideas are not only expected, but are a valued asset to the entire learning community.”  To read Joan’s nominations, click here .
